PicaMS is
a
Brisbane-based company which provides
a range of scientific problem solving services based
on techniques
derived from physical sciences and materials
nano-characterisation.
Our Mission: To enable development of better
materials and better products for the
manufacturing, engineering and
resource
industries through nanocharacterisation and
physical modelling
Examples of major recent projects are:
- Analysis of
spontaneous fracture of flat glass and
remediation of glass facades
with nickel sulphide contaminants
- Applications
of superconductivity
- Micro and nano
characterisation of materials using scanning and
transmission electron
microscopy
PicaMS
is
a scientific consultant company which provides a
service for
characterisation of physical materials using
electron beam techniques
and provides a service in physics-based problem
solving.
- Electron beam techniques, such as scanning and
transmission electron microscopy, provide a
highly versatile toolset
for characterisation of materials structure in a
sizes ranging from 100
picometres (0.1 billionth of a metre = atomic
resolution) up to 1
millimetre.
- For diagnosis of causes of product failure
and for quality
assurance electron-beam
characterisation methods often prove to be most
effective.
- For process
and
product development a combination of
electron beam
characterisation, theoretical workup and
physics-based problem solving
is used.
About the logo:
The
logo is based on the c80 carbon molecule,
which is the big
sister of the better known c60 molecule. C80
has the same
icosahedral molecular symmetry as c60, but has low
bonding symmetry and
therefore is much less abundant than its little
sister.
